What type of survey are you looking for?
Pre-purchase Survey
Condition and Value surveys, or C&V, are used to determine the fair market value of the vessel, usually required by insurance companies or financial institutions. Get the advice of a surveyor who knows the market price for your boat based on its current condition.
Engine / Oil Analysis
Condition and Value
A pre-purchase Survey is a type of C&V inspection used when purchasing used vessels, involving complete inspection of overall condition of the vessel, including hull, equipment, and engines. This may often include a sea worthiness trial to complete the inspection, after which the fair market value of the condition of the vessel will be determined.
Damage Inspection
A damage survey is often required by insurance companies after a loss has been incurred due to an accident or other event. Use a trusted source with experience determining the cost of repair for any damage to your vessel.
A pre-purchase survey can include an engine oil analysis. We withdraw a small quantity of oil from the engine(s) and send it to a testing lab. These results can take 2-3 days and there is a small additional fee for the analysis.
Preparing for your survey
01.
Contact us to schedule your survey.
*Surveys must be paid in advance.
02.
If your boat is in the water, make arrangements with your marina to haul it out for a hull inspection.
If your boat is stored on land, the survey can be conducted at location.
*Any marina charges are the responsibility of the owner, not the surveyor.
03.
If you're buying a boat and it is in the water, it must be first removed from the water for inspection then put back in for a sea trial.
A skipper must be provided to conduct a sea trial. Your broker can help you with these arrangements.
This may incur additional charges not included in the cost of the survey.
04.
The physical inspection the vessel typically takes between 4-6 hours. A sea trial (if required) is hopefully done on the same day.
The survey will be conducted first, then a sea trial.
05.
We strive to provide a written report within 48 hours of the inspection.
The report will be sent to you via email.
A physical copy can be mailed upon a request.
